Small business website guide

One-Page vs. Multi-Page Websites: Which Does a Small Business Need?

A one-page site is not automatically “basic,” and a multi-page site is not automatically better. The right structure depends on how much the business needs to explain and how many different searches it wants to be found for.

Choose one page when the offer is simple

One page works well when visitors need a short explanation, a few trust signals, and a contact option. It is cheaper to build and easier to keep current.

Choose multiple pages when the topics are genuinely different

If a contractor offers roofing, siding, decks, and remodeling, each service may deserve its own page. That gives customers more useful detail and gives search engines a focused page for each topic.

What about SEO?

A one-page site can rank, especially for a business name or a narrow local service. A multi-page site usually has more room to target distinct services, questions, and case studies without forcing unrelated material onto one page.

A practical rule

It is usually better to start with one good page than five thin pages. Add pages when they have a real job to do.
